Dead bird in East Bay tests positive for West Nile virus

(KRON) — The Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District (ACMAD) has confirmed the county’s first positive detection of West Nile virus of the year.

According to the district, a dead bird found in a residential area in Fremont, between Newark Boulevard and Christine Street, was collected and tested. On May 1, the district’s laboratory confirmed West Nile virus in the tested bird.
