A 19-year-old Union City man has been ordered to stand trial in the fatal shooting of a Kaiser Permanente security guard in West Oakland last August, after a preliminary hearing that narrowed the fight to a handful of key facts while leaving big questions about motive and video evidence hanging in the air.
Judge Moves Case Toward Trial
Alameda County Superior Court Judge Thomas Stevens today ruled there was enough evidence to send the case to trial after a preliminary hearing. The defendant remains in custody without bail and is scheduled to return to court on May 11, according to The Mercury News.
Charges And The Victim
Prosecutors have charged 19-year-old Jeremiah Crawford with murder in the killing of Tony Norman, a Kaiser Permanente security guard. Norman was hit by a stray bullet while walking in late August 2025 on the 700 block of 17th Street in Oakland, KTVU reported.
