Safeway has resumed offering paper grocery bags with handles at some Bay Area stores after customers complained about a recent switch to handleless bags, a corporate customer service representative confirmed by phone Friday.
The representative at Safeway’s parent company, Albertsons, said some stores brought back handled paper bags based on customer feedback, though the company did not immediately provide a list of participating locations or say whether the change would be permanent.
