(KRON) — The Stanford Blood Center said Thursday that it is down to a two-day supply of type O+ blood, and has an immediate need for donors of all blood types.
The Center said its local blood inventory is “critically low,” while over the past 24 hours, demand for O+ has surged. Type O blood is a universal blood type that is needed to support emergency patients.
“O+ blood distribution is up approximately 25% and O- is up 50% to support trauma, surgical, and emergency patients across our partner hospitals,” the Center wrote Thursday. “We have a critical need for type O+ blood and an immediate need for all other blood types.”…
