A street fight near a Fremont intersection turned into a shooting on Wednesday, leaving one man wounded and another person under arrest, according to police. The clash unfolded near Corrigan Drive and Eggers Drive after multiple 911 callers reported a group of males fighting. Officers arrived to find no victim at the scene, but investigators later located a man at his home with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Detectives said they detained several people and arrested one person in connection with the incident as the investigation continues.
What the police say
According to Fremont police, the first calls came in around 6:17 PM, with several witnesses reporting a fight among a group of males near Corrigan Drive and Eggers Drive. When officers arrived, they found no one injured. The victim surfaced a short time later at his home, where he was treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Investigators said that witness interviews and help from the department’s Real Time Information Center were key to tracking a possible suspect vehicle seen leaving the area, according to NBC Bay Area.
Search warrant and arrest in San Jose
As the case developed, Fremont police said San Jose officers served a search warrant and detained multiple people connected to the investigation. Fremont detectives later took custody of those individuals and arrested one person in connection with the shooting. The department assigned case number 260513025 to the investigation and has not released the arrested person’s name or formal charges.
