PARLIER – As the district moves forward with the process of renaming one of its elementary schools, community feedback has helped solidify the — not so — new name.
On June 9, a handful of community members gathered in the Parlier Unified School District Board Room to discuss the renaming of Cesar E. Chavez Elementary School. After a brief, but impactful discussion, the general consensus seemed to be in favor of renaming the site to Tuolumne Elementary School.
“I think that overwhelmingly, the response is moving it back to Tuolumne,” said Martin Mares, board president, before closing the public hearing. “I’m also a strong supporter and proponent of renaming it to Tuolumne.”…
