Deputy Involved Shooting, Suspect Hospitalized
July 15, 2026 – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office officials report that at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a deputy responded to a home near Olive and Cornelia Avenues in Fresno. There a man broke down the door of the house where people were inside. The suspect then fled before the deputy arrived. The homeowners described the suspect as a taller Black man who was driving a white work van with a ladder rack.
About 20 minutes later, as the deputy was investigating this crime, a 911 call came in from a home located on Garfield Ave., south of Shields Ave. The people there said a taller Black man in a white work van was on their property threatening to kill them, refusing to leave. Due to the matching description, the deputy at the Olive and Cornelia scene left and went to the home on Garfield. He contacted the suspect next to his van.
