Fresno Chaffee Zoo welcomes a new long-necked baby

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) — The Fresno Chaffee Zoo is celebrating the birth of a new female baby giraffe.

On Aug. 18, the zoo staff welcomed the second calf between the Masai giraffes, Siku and Fenny. This comes after the heartbreaking passing of the father, Fenny.

“The birth of his daughter has become a bright spot for the Zoo staff and guests who cared for Fenny, and we look forward to introducing her to the community,” said General Curator Nicole Presley.

Siku and her newborn calf will remain behind the scenes to be monitored, according to the zoo officials…
