ABC30 director claims discrimination, hostile ‘boys club’ workplace in Fresno lawsuit

A former director for ABC30 in Fresno filed a lawsuit this year claiming gender discrimination, a hostile workplace and even sabotage by several of her male colleagues, and a failure by the TV station’s leaders to do anything about it.

The lawsuit was filed by an attorney for Jessica Day, an award-winning director with more than two decades of experience, according to the complaint in Fresno County Superior Court. She won an Emmy in August as the director for a morning segment about wildfires in Southern California.

The only female director at the station, Day says she was routinely passed over for training or other perks by management in favor of less experienced male directors, paid less than those men and had her sanity questioned when she complained…
