It wasn’t pretty for the Fresno City College offense, but the Rams’ defense and special teams came through when it mattered most.
Punter Jared Roberts pinned Modesto Junior College at its own 1-yard line with a 56-yard punt. On the ensuing play, Tana Tavui forced and recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown, lifting the Rams to a 24-17 victory in a Valley Conference showdown Saturday afternoon at Ratcliffe Stadium.
“Great team win.,” Fresno City coach Josh Brown said. “Modesto is a very good football team and well coached. We have really been focusing on playing for 60 minutes in all phases and we did that today. Our offense had a tough time getting in a groove due to them holding onto the ball for so long but the special teams and defense kept us in the game and we finished great.”…
