New FCC Fire Academy ladder truck named after Selma firefighter

SELMA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Firefighters from the Selma Fire Department expressed their excitement to join the Fresno City College Fire Academy in unveiling their newest ladder truck on Thursday.

Fire officials say the new ladder truck is named after Selma firefighter Chris Nelson. Chris was critically injured on the job in 2014, and firefighters say he is known for his positive attitude, kind personality, and strong work ethic.

“We are grateful his name and legacy will now be present as future firefighters learn and train on the ladder truck. Thank you to all involved for making this possible!” firefighters said in a social media post.
