Fresno food vendors to receive more opportunities at parks

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – New changes are on the way for mobile food vendors in Fresno, changes that the city officials say will expand vending opportunities for them in the city’s parks.

Officials say at the Feb. 1 Council meeting, the Fresno City Council will be voting on a resolution to amend rules and regulations regarding the commercial vending of food products in City parks.

According to officials, the changes will provide opportunities for permitted vendors to operate within designated city park areas, contributing to the city’s diverse entrepreneurship opportunities. Vendors, complying with the permitting process, will have the opportunity to broaden their customer base in a manner that is healthy and safe.

“The City of Fresno embraces street vendors as an integral part of our economy. In
taking this leap forward, utilizing 1,500 acres of City green space, this action
presents more business opportunities for mobile food vendors while ensuring the
safety of our residents and micro-business owners alike,” said Councilmember Miguel
Arias.
