Shelter in place at Clovis High after phone call ‘alleging suspicious activity’

CLOVIS, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A shelter-in-place was imposed and later lifted at Clovis High School on Tuesday following what school district officials say was a phone call alleging suspicious activity in the area.

According to the Clovis Unified School District, students continued instruction while law enforcement worked to check the perimeter of the campus. The action was prompted by a phone call – but officials did not elaborate on what was said during the phone call.

District officials say a shelter-in-place is not a lockdown. The shelter-in-place protocol requires students to stay indoors and doors are locked – with all other instructional activities continuing as normal.

The incident comes five days after a similar incident at a Clovis Unified campus, impacting Clovis East High School, Reyburn Intermediate and Reagan Elementary . That incident was also prompted by a phone call threat.

Law enforcement has since confirmed that Clovis High School is safe and normal operations have resumed on campus.
