FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – One person is dead after a crash near Parlier early Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP says the crash happened around 5:00 a.m. near Manning Avenue between Riverbend and Smith avenues.
IDENTIFIED: Father, daughter killed in Fresno County crash
According to the CHP, the crash happened when the 25-year-old driver of a Jeep Cherokee was going at a high rate of speed – approaching a Honda Civic being driven by a 24-year-old man. The Jeep Cherokee attempted to overtake the Honda Civic but struck it while passing. The Jeep Cherokee lost control and struck another vehicle on the road, a Honda Accord. The driver of the Honda Accord was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. The age or name of the driver killed was not officially released.
Officers say the Jeep Cherokee caught fire after the crash and the driver was pulled from the burning vehicle by the driver of the Honda Civic – identified by officers as 24-year-old Guillermo Contreras, who was not injured in the incident.
