FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Several chickens were saved from the flames following a residential fire on Friday evening, the Fresno Fire Department said.
Firefighters say they responded to a residential fire around the area of 4th Street and Belmont Avenue just before 7:50 p.m.
According to fire officials, the fire happened at a detached garage. A chicken coop was in the back near the detached garage, and the residents of the home were attempting to save the chickens.
Ultimately, all the chickens were saved, according to the fire department.
There was a hazard of a propane tank, and fire officials say they had to let it burn out.
As of Friday evening, there is no information regarding the cause of the fire, but firefighters say the propane tank contributed to it.
