Central Valley and Sierra have received a lot of rain and snow

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) — The Central Valley and Sierra have received a lot of rain and snow during the second atmospheric river and forecasters with the National Weather Service say more is still to come

“We have a surge of moderate to heavy rain coming in overnight and I think the brunt is going to be tonight and early tomorrow,” said David Spector with the National Weather Service in Hanford.

Spector says over the last 24 hours the mountains and the valley have seen a significant amount of rain.

“In the Sierra Nevada we have seen one to two inches of rain so far …. and in the San Joaquin Valley it looks like half an inch,” Spector continued.

Although the amount of rain is significant, Fresno County Emergency Manager Terri Mejorado says river levels remain low.

“We didn’t get that amount of rain …..we’ve got a lot of open space in our reservoirs and our rivers right now,” said Mejorado.

While the rain could be seen coming down in buckets across the area Sunday PG&E says a small amount of people lost power
