FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A 25-year-old woman arrested after what police say was a deadly DUI crash in Fresno’s Tower District early Wednesday morning has been named by officials. The crash resulted in a man’s death and put a woman in the hospital.
The crash took place around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Fern and Maroa avenues.
Detectives say the driver, identified by police as Cameron Aguilar, made a westbound turn onto Fern Avenue from Maroa Avenue when she traveled off the roadway. Detectives say they believe speed was a factor. Both pedestrian victims were next to the Dollar Tree when Aguilar’s vehicle struck them.
Police say Aguilar was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol while she was driving. She was taken into custody and booked into the Fresno County Jail for the following charges:
- Gross Vehicle Manslaughter While Intoxicated
- 2 counts – Driver with .08% Alcohol Causing Death and/or Injury
- 2 counts – Intoxicated Driver Causing Injury and/or Death or other
- Causing Great Bodily Injury During the Commission of a Felony
