FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Seven drivers were arrested during a DUI checkpoint over the Super Bowl weekend, according to the Fresno Police Department.
Police say they were out from 2 p.m. until midnight on Super Bowl Sunday, looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence.
Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
Officials would also like to remind everyone that although medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.
The next DUI enforcement operation will be on February 24, according to the police department.
