Over 100 cited in bicycle, pedestrian safety operation in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The Fresno Police Department says they issued a total of 127 drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists citations in a bicycle and pedestrian safety operation in Fresno on Friday.

Police say 31 citations were for a variety of violations made by drivers – and another 96 pedestrians and cyclists were also cited.

The drivers were cited due to various violations including:

  • Driver blocking a crosswalk.
  • Unsafe speed.
  • Driving a motor vehicle while holding and operating a handheld wireless communication device.
  • Driver failing to stop for a red traffic signal and reckless driving.

This city-wide enforcement operation in Fresno began at noon and finished at 10 p.m.

The Fresno Police Department says they will be holding another bicycle and pedestrian safety operation on March 23.
