HANFORD, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A man was arrested Monday after he was found carrying a concealed firearm in which he was not the registered owner, according to the Hanford Police Department.
Police say they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving above the posted speed limit in the area of the 100 block of East Seventh Street.
Upon contact with the vehicle’s occupants, authorities say they learned a person inside was on supervised release and subject to search. The occupants were asked to step out so a search could be conducted.
When the driver, Juan Carlos Herrera stepped out, police say he advised he had a firearm in the holster in his waistband and a loaded .40 caliber handgun under the driver’s seat.
Officers say they arrested and booked Hererra under suspicion of carrying a concealed loaded handgun on his person in public and carrying a concealed loaded handgun in public when he was not the firearm’s registered owner.
