MADERA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A person is dead following a vehicle collision when they crawled out into the intersection of the crosswalk on Tuesday night, the Madera Police Department said.
Police say around 8:30 p.m. officers responded to the intersection of B Street and Yosemite Avenue for a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.
Paramedics transported the pedestrian to a local hospital where they died of injuries sustained during the collision, according to police.
The involved driver and witnesses stayed on the scene and provided officers with statements, police said.
Police say the pedestrian crawled out onto the intersection at the crosswalk when the collision occurred. It is unknown why the pedestrian tried to cross the street this way.
Alcohol was not found to be a factor on the driver’s part.
