DA: Man charged after domestic violence shooting in Clovis

CLOVIS, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The male suspect in a domestic violence shooting case in Clovis has been charged, according to the Fresno County District’s Attorney Office on Thursday.

Officers say they responded to a welfare check at a residence in the area of Clovis and Teague Avenues on Tuesday morning where they located a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. At the time, officers say the woman was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

According to officers, the suspect in this event, 36-year-old Manuel Ramirez of Fresno, had left the scene and was at an apartment in the area of Hughes and Dakota Avenues in Fresno.

Clovis Police officers and the Clovis SWAT Team responded to the area and said Ramirez was taken into custody without incident with the assistance of the Fresno Police Department and the California Highway Patrol.

According to the District Attorney’s Office on Thursday, Ramirez has been charged with attempted homicide and child abuse.
