Investigation continues into shooting at central Fresno party that hospitalized 5

It was a calmer scene at Rowell and Hedges as people from the First Galilee Missionary Baptist Church were leaving their Sunday evening service.

But the news of Saturday night’s shooting has the church community on edge.

Fresno Police received a shotspotter notification in the area of Hedges and Cedar Avenues around 7:45 pm.

As officers rushed to the scene, they learned one person was shot after a fight broke out.

When they arrived, they found three victims, a five-year-old and 16-year-old boy, as well as a woman.

Surveillance video from the church shows the first officer arriving on scene.

Moments later, you can see more officers arrive and an ambulance pulling in.

When Gilbert Hollins, a minister with the church, heard about the shooting, he made sure to check in with those who lived in the area.

“We even have members of this church that live in this neighborhood, that reside here and I’ve had to call some of them and check in on them as well,” he said.

Hollins says the church wasn’t struck and no one from their chuch community was hurt, but Saturday night’s shooting hits close to home for them.
