DA: Charges filed against Fresno man in fentanyl death

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Charges have been filed against a 25-year-old man from Fresno for his alleged involvement in the fentanyl poisoning death of 34-year-old Vernisha Latriece Green of Fresno in 2023, according to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday.

The DA’s office says it is alleged that on April 16, 2023, 25-year-old Antwane Dupree Lee sold the pills containing fentanyl that killed Green.

Green was found deceased on April 17, 2023.

According to the DA’s office, the felony complaint filed in the Superior Court alleged that Antwane Lee committed:

  • one count of murder
  • two counts of possession for sale of a controlled substance
  • one count of sale or offer to sell a controlled substance
  • and one count of transport for the sale of a controlled substance.

Officials say Lee is already in custody at the Fresno County Jail for a violation of probation.

If convicted of the second-degree murder charge, Lee could potentially face 15 years to life in state prison.
