2 vehicles overturned after 3-vehicle crash in Madera

MADERA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A three-vehicle crash in Madera led to two vehicles being overturned in Madera, the California Highway Patrol said.

CHP says they received a call at around 10:53 a.m. on Wednesday regarding a three-vehicle traffic collision on Avenue 17, east of Avon Way.

Officers say a preliminary investigation indicates a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling eastbound on Avenue 17, east of Avon Way behind a 2009 Honda. At the same time, a Nissan was also driving eastbound on Avenue 17, east of Avon Way.

According to CHP, as the Honda approached the rear of the Nissan, the Honda attempted to pass the Nissan on its left side. The driver of the Chevrolet was unable to slow down in time, and it ended up crashing into the rear of the Nissan.

As a result of the impact, investigators say the driver of the Nissan lost control of the vehicle, veered to the left, and crashed into the right side of the Honda, within the center turn lane. The Nissan then veered to the right and collided into a raised curb, and a power pole, and overturned onto its roof. The Chevrolet also veered to the right and overturned onto its roof.
