These are the new residential solid waste rates in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A new residential solid waste rate has been adopted for the first time in nearly 15 years during a Fresno City Council meeting.

According to officials, the new rates for the Department of Public Utilities Solid Waste Management Division residential solid waste collection were approved by a five-to-two vote. It will take effect on July 1.

Officials say the new rate for the basic service level is $30.87 per month. The new alternative service level rate is $28.12. The rate for each service level would adjust gradually on July 1 each year until July 2028.

The new rates will apply to Fresno residents living in single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes and receiving weekly solid waste, recycling, and green waste/organic material collection services from the Department of Public Utilities.

City officials say that earlier this year, the DPU began the process of updating its rates as dictated by the State of California’s Proposition 218. Property owners received mail notices to inform them about the proposed rate, which included a protest card for those wishing to protest the proposed rate update.
