Central Valley political experts react to Walz as Democratic VP pick

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – After Vice President Kamala Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, reaction from many in the Central Valley began to pour in.

“This is the ticket that’s going to bring enthusiasm to the American voter,” local delegate for the Democratic National Convention Eric Payne said.

He and many other democrats are excited about the announcement.

“As a former educator myself, I love that he’s been in the classroom,” Payne said.

Payne says he likes many of the progressive policies Walz has implemented as governor of Minnesota and is excited to see him on the national stage.

However, Tulare County GOP chair and former Republican House member Connie Conway says Walz is a far too liberal pick for the Vice Presidency.

“I hope people do their homework. And I feel like they should be very concerned about some of the policies and some of the actions of his past,” Conway said.

She believes many Central Valley voters would be better served under the Trump-Vance ticket.
