DINUBA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – While the State Theater in Dinuba is being demolished to rubble, the 100-year-old bricks which supported the building are being set aside to give life to new projects.
According to the Alta Historical Society, a portion of the bricks will be used to create a patio garden area around the recently refurbished Dinuba downtown clock.
The clock on 289 South K Street sits in front of the Dinuba Depot Museum, which was also given new life after being converted from an old Southern Pacific Depot.
Miguel Camacho, who lives in Dinuba, says he’s glad the historic building will be given a second chance at life.
“I saw my first movie at the State Theater when I was 12-years-old back in the early 1970’s,” Camacho said. “It was sad to see it being demolished, but it’s good to know a part of it will live on here in Dinuba.”
Demolition on the theater began in mid-July after a fire broke out inside of the structure in February. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
