In lieu of flowers, the Sheriff’s Office says the public can donate to Elim Place, a Memory Care Center in Sanger.

“[Sheriff Pierce] had a booming laugh. So when he was in his office on the second floor of the sheriff’s office, everybody on the floor could hear him laugh and it made everybody smile and wonder what was going on— but his booming laugh was extremely memorable,” retired Sheriff Mims said.

Sheriff Pierce served as Fresno County Sheriff between 1998 and 2007. He passed away peacefully with his family at his side at the age of 80.
