FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – It’s the best night of the year for kiddos eagerly waiting to head out, all dressed up, and ready to get their candy fix.
But before families hit the road, local law enforcement has a few safety tips for pedestrians and drivers.
“It’s not about who’s in the right, or who has a fault, it’s about everybody making it home safe,” said Officer Joel Kellom, Clovis Police Department, Traffic Division.
Whether it’s their first time trick-or-treating or their favorite holiday, the little superheroes and princesses might forget all about traffic safety with their eyes glued to the sweets.
“You have to have a little bit of patience, if you do see a violation, you can’t call the Fresno Police Department, we will respond, but for the most part, you’re going to see that there’s going to be a lot of people out, and it may be frustrating, but you have to understand that it is Halloween and it’s only temporary,” Tran said.
The trick-or-treaters are advised to stay on the sidewalks and cross at the designated crosswalks.
