FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Several dozen experiencing homelessness found new shelter after encampments surrounding a Fresno homeless shelter were cleared Friday morning, the City of Fresno said.
According to city officials, city outreach, police, the Homeless Assistance Response Team (HART), sanitation, and street sweeping crews worked together to clean up the area.
The city says 42 of the people accepted shelter and were successfully housed.
The city says the encampments were set up around the Poverello House, a non-profit that provides meals and referrals for physical and mental health, housing, and substance abuse treatments.
