IDENTIFIED: Man ejected, collides into brick pillars in Fresno County

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The man dead after being ejected from a car in Fresno County early Sunday morning has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Monday.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Anthony Thomas, 32, of Fresno.

CHP responded to a report of an injury collision on McKinley Avenue just east of Blythe Avenue in Fresno County just after 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Officers say a 32-year-old driver, who the coroner’s office identified as Anthony Thomas of Fresno, was driving a 2019 Alfa Romeo eastbound on McKinley Avenue when, for unknown reasons, allowed the car to veer to the right off the road.

CHP says the vehicle struck several brick pillars, a wrought iron fence, and a chain-link fence, causing it to overturn. Thomas was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his car, sustaining critical injuries.

Investigators say Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
