McLane High makes history with playoff win, plus other NYL schools advance to next round

McLane High is having one of its best season in a long time.

How about a playoff win for the first time since 1995?

That’s what happened for the Highlanders after they defeated Wasco 35-17 in a Central Section Division IV game at McLane Stadium.

“It’s been a long time” McLane coach Andrew Pancotti said. “I’m really proud of the boys. We really built this program through the weight room and these boys worked really hard and stayed consistent and discipline.”

McLane had an narrow 7-3 lead after the first quarter, but got things going in the next quarter.

Noah Zamora completed a 47-yard touchdown pass to Demetrius Simon and Zamora followed that up with a 6-yard touchdown run to give McLane a 20-3 lead.

“Crazy. it feels good,” Zamora said. “Like, I don’t even know how to feel. We know how talented we are as a team. We have so many players that can go out and score.”

Zamora finished with two touchdown passes and ran it in for one.

McLane’s exclamation point came late in the fourth quarter when Demetrius Simon had a pick-6.
