Central California is set to experience warm temperatures through Monday, with highs reaching at least 70 degrees in the San Joaquin Valley. However, a dramatic shift is expected starting Tuesday when the chances for such warmth drop to just 10%. Temperatures will rebound slightly mid-week, with a 25% to 55% chance of hitting 70 degrees again on Wednesday and Thursday.
Rain is also on the horizon. From Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning, there’s a 25% to 45% chance of receiving at least a tenth of an inch of rain across most of the San Joaquin Valley. Meanwhile, the Sierra Nevada, particularly areas above 7,000 feet near Yosemite, could see up to 3 inches of snow, with lower chances and amounts further south.
The weekend will remain dry, with cold overnight temperatures dropping into the upper 30s in the valley and freezing in mountain areas. Winds will remain calm, with little relief from the cold nights. But come Monday, a storm will roll in, bringing winter-like conditions to Central California.
