Fresno councilmembers closer to unseating current Fresno County supervisors

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Two Fresno City council members are looking to become the first to unseat incumbents on the Fresno County Board of Supervisors in 26 years.

In races for District 2 and District 3 on the Fresno County Board of Supervisors, Luis Chavez and Garry Bredefeld each have double-digit leads on incumbents Sal Quintero and Steve Brandau. 100% of precincts have reported but Fresno County Registrar of Voters James Kus has not officially called either race.

Chavez says it’s over.

“We’re obviously trending up, but I think safe to say that we’re very comfortable in declaring victory. Now, on to rolling up our sleeves and getting to work for the residents of District 3,” Chavez said.

Bredefeld is confident, though he says he won’t declare victory yet. He did say he received a congratulatory text from his opponent.

“I did receive a congratulatory text from Steve Brandau, and I’m very grateful for that and I appreciate all that he’s done, and I wish him the very best,” Bredefeld said.
