Freeze Conditions in Effect: Central California Braces for Weather Swings

A Freeze Warning remains active until 10 AM Tuesday across rural San Joaquin Valley areas, while Yosemite and Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Parks face near-zero temperatures under a Cold Weather Advisory. Overnight lows as low as 2 degrees prompted these warnings.

Temperatures are set to warm midweek, with highs climbing above seasonal norms by Friday. However, change looms as a stronger weather system arrives Saturday, bringing moderate rainfall to the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Nevada foothills. Snow levels in the Sierra Nevada will start near 7,500 feet, rising to 8,000 feet Saturday. Heavy snowfall is likely at higher elevations, with probabilities reaching 40% for two feet on the highest peaks.

The system is forecast to bring additional rain and snow through next Tuesday.
