Snow levels in the Sierra Nevada will start near 7,500 feet, rising to 8,000 feet Saturday. Heavy snowfall is likely at higher elevations, with probabilities reaching 40% for two feet on the highest peaks.
The system is forecast to bring additional rain and snow through next Tuesday.
