FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Both lanes of a Fresno County highway outside Clovis were blocked on Friday morning after a crash brought down power lines.
Caltrans confirmed that both lanes of Highway 168, close to Sample Road, were closed after power lines went down in the area.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the power lines came down after a truck crashed into one of the poles, snapping it and causing it to fall to the ground. Pictures from the scene show the power pole on the ground with large wood splinters surrounding it.
Officers say the driver of the truck that hit the power pole was not injured due to a properly worn seatbelt.
According to PG&E, the crash knocked out power for around 240 customers; power is expected to be restored at around 2:15 p.m.
The driver of the truck was not officially identified by the California Highway Patrol.
