Water erupts in Clovis after tire blowout on a highway

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Water was shooting in the air after a tire blew out on a highway in Clovis Saturday, the California Highway Patrol announced.

CHP says a tire from a car traveling on Highway 168 in Clovis had blown out, causing the vehicle to drive off the freeway and into a fire hydrant in a vacant parking lot.

As a result, officers say a hundred-foot water geyser erupted into the air.

Officers report Cal Fire and the Clovis Fire Department responded to mitigate the water shooting out of the hydrant. Video from CHP shows a fire crew being showered with water as they worked to shut it off.

CHP did not report any injuries sustained from the crash.
