FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – For almost 24 hours a wanted man kept a northwest Fresno neighborhood on lockdown after firing off a gun Friday evening , the Fresno Police Department announced.
Police say just before 10 p.m. Friday night they responded to the 3200 block of west Indianapolis Avenue after receiving a report of a family member who was firing off a gun in the home.
As officers arrived all family members in the home were able to safely evacuate. Officers report a 27-year-old was alone in the house when he was experiencing “some type of episode” and repeatedly fired a firearm inside.
SWAT called after day-long stand-off with wanted man in northwest Fresno
Police report hearing additional gunshots as they established a perimeter around the home. Officers worked through the night to make contact with the man inside and get him to peacefully surrender.
Investigators report the man was wanted for several felony charges related to firearm possession and firing a firearm inside a residence.
