Fresno, CA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of California’s Sierra Nevada and surrounding mountain regions, with heavy snowfall and strong winds expected to impact travel through Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, the advisory covers the Fresno-Tulare Lower Sierra, Mariposa-Madera Lower Sierra, and South End of the Lower Sierra, where snowfall between 6 to 12 inches is forecast for elevations between 3,000 and 4,000 feet. Wind gusts could reach up to 40 mph. The advisory remains in place until 11 p.m. Thursday.
Further south, the Tehachapi Mountains, Grapevine, and Frazier Mountain communities are also under a winter weather advisory from 5 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Friday. Snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches are expected above 4,000 feet, with up to 15 inches possible at higher elevations.
