Fresno’s shelter dogs are going on a ‘beer run’ this weekend

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The Fresno Beer Runners are trying to start a new running trend in town, volunteering and running with the city’s shelter dogs.

The Beer Runners have been running all over Fresno’s Tower District and Downtown Fresno for the past six years, even earning a day named after them by the City of Fresno in the process. The social running group runs from bar to bar in Downtown Fresno and the Tower District, logging their miles in between.

The group’s co-founder, Angelica Lopez, says it’s been a long journey built on the foundation of supporting local businesses and breweries.

“It’s just been amazing to see the progress,” Lopez said. “We want to keep our money here and support all the local, amazing businesses.”

Lopez says the group has grown and moved around, but not much has changed about its culture. She says that after running the group will typically sit down and chat at a local brewery or restaurant, and that’s where the idea to run with dogs first came…
