FRESNO COUNTY, CA – Black bears are making surprising appearances on the valley floor, prompting responses from law enforcement and wildlife officials in both Clovis and Selma, according to the local sheriff’s office.
On May 1, Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home near Copper and Armstrong Avenues in Clovis after a black bear was spotted near a tree. A California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) biologist tranquilized the bear and released it safely at Shaver Lake, authorities confirmed.
Then on May 9, a Selma Police officer saw another bear near Dinuba Avenue and Wright Street. As of Thursday, that bear remains on the loose.…
