What’s this Fresno restaurant’s secret ingredient to success?

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Before the end of last year, over a dozen restaurants had either changed ownership or closed, but one business that has managed to succeed in the post-pandemic economy says a key ingredient in their success is creativity and fun.

“Creating an environment where the staff feel comfortable to be themselves,” said the owner of MOTO Delicatessen & Bodega, Carlos Moran. “To connect with the community.”

MOTO Delicatessen & Bodega is approaching its fourth anniversary; owner Carlos Moran had over a decade of experience in the restaurant industry, even before the possibility of opening up a restaurant even came up.

“I’ve been in this community since I graduated high school,” Moran said. “I’ve always been a part of the community, and now that I have my own business. I just want to give back as much as I can.”

A fellow “Tower rat” and high school friend, MOTO’s Chef Lindsay Anton, moved from Fresno to New York to start a career in sales. When she began feeling hungry for more, she started a journey that would eventually lead back to the Central Valley…
