Multiple fires reported along Fresno highways ‘within minutes of each other’

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – At least half a dozen fires along Fresno highways were reported within minutes of each other on Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol said.

The fires were all burning along the shoulders of highways 41, 99, and 180, including:

  • Highway 41 near Shaw Avenue
  • Highway 180 near Peach Avenue
  • Highway 180 near Temperance Avenue
  • Highway 99 at Jensen Avenue (reported at 1:15 p.m.)

The southbound lanes of Highway 41 were temporarily reduced to one lane due to one of the fires in an embankment just north of Ashlan Avenue. All fires have since been extinguished.

While officials have yet to confirm the cause of the fires and whether or not they are related, according to maps, the shortest route to access all these locations is nearly 20 miles…
