Medi-Cal enlistment paused for illegal immigrants, Central Valley assemblymembers react

FRESNO , Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – California state legislators signed off on budget cuts Friday in an effort to close the state’s $12 billion gap.

The cuts will, in part, slash Medi-Cal access for many living in the country illegally.

Some are concerned that it could negatively impact local hospitals like Madera Community Hospital. The facility reopened in March after being closed for more than two years. One major reason for its closure in 2022 was that it did not make enough money…
