July 5, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that over the past six months, the City of Fresno has experienced a
significant decline in auto thefts. This progress is largely thanks to a grant from the State of California for Organized Retail Theft and Auto Theft, which has allowed us to establish a second Career Criminal Auto Theft (CCAT) task force.
Our detectives continue to target repeat offenders, both local and those traveling into Fresno to commit crimes, helping to protect our community from further harm. As a result, 791 fewer families have had to endure the hardship a stolen vehicle can cause, despite insurance.
