MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A hiker had to be rescued in Madera County after a misstep left her with a serious injury, the sheriff’s office announced.
On Sunday, a woman visiting from Southern California was hiking on the Lewis Creek Trail near Corlieu Falls with family when she misstepped, deputies say.
Deputies say the woman suffered a serious ankle injury and required an airlift rescue by CHP’s H-40 helicopter due to the steep terrain.
Before the woman was airlifted out of the canyon to the Batterson Fire Station, first responders stabilized her injury. Once at the station, she was transported to a local hospital…
