MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 21-year-old was arrested in connection with the death of 75-year-old Robert Boyajian, who was reported missing earlier this week.
According to Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue, the Bass Lake realtor’s disappearance on Sunday was out of character for him. Investigators were able to trace his bank records, which showed a $1,000 withdrawal from his bank account on Monday, July 14, the day after he had been reported missing.

Deputies worked to figure out the chain of events, which established that 21-year-old Audrik Matevosian allegedly killed Robert Boyajian and then drove out to the desert to dispose of his body. The suspect, according to the Madera County Sheriff, had previously done IT work for Boyajian.
“He admitted that his motives were two-fold,” said Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue. “He said that there was resentment towards [Robert Boyajian] as he claimed that he had spoken disparagingly about his family. The second was a plan for financial gain. We now consider this a premeditated homicide.”
Deputies say the suspect had purchased a body bag at least a week earlier online, had rented a vehicle the Friday before Boyajian’s disappearance, called Boyajian the Saturday morning to check he was home, then shot and killed him that night.
