California children’s hospital completes 1st transcatheter valve procedure

Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, Calif., has successfully performed its first procedure using the Medtronic Harmony transcatheter pulmonary valve.

Led by interventional cardiologist Teresa Evans, MD, PhD, the minimally invasive procedure allows for pulmonary valve replacement via catheter, avoiding the need for open-heart surgery. The Harmony valve is designed for patients with native outflow tracts and enables faster recovery, with many patients discharged the next day, the Sierra Sun Times reported…
