WATCH: Video shows Fresno suspect ‘destroying property’ after police shooting

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Video of police body cams and security cameras released by the Fresno Police Department on Friday shows what happened immediately after police shot at a wanted suspect earlier this year.

The video shows the suspect, who was trying to get away from officers attempting to arrest him, driving in a dark-colored sedan through the backyards and fences of his neighbors, officials said. It ultimately ended with the arrest of the suspect.

Man arrested after standoff in southeast Fresno

The video shows the incident on Sunday, June 1, when officers arrived at the suspect’s home near Turner and Sierra Vista avenues. The officers had gone to that address following an incident on Friday, May 30, when a man on parole took off after a traffic stop near Butler Avenue and Hazelwood Boulevard. The suspect told officers that he was armed and tried to escape, running out of the house.

According to police, the suspect pointed a gun at the officers but did not shoot at them and went into the car. An officer started shooting at the suspect, and he then started driving erratically during his attempt to escape in the vehicle, which is when shots were fired. The man was not hit by gunfire.
